If you call 866-202-9985 from a COCOT hanging off a DMS-100, there is a good chance that the line will reset back to dialtone without battery drop. The theory is that the number is returning some unexpected cause code that the DMS-100 just shrugs at and doesn't really know what to do. It consistently does *not* work on a 5E though!
